Silver Trillion Bowl

This reflects my research into natural minerals and particular, the forms and shapes of trillion stones. This is represented by the cored, formed and applied units decorated with subtle patterns that I have created using the technique of engine turning.

The traditional technique of engine turning is also an area I am exploring for utilising which will be different from my other decorative processes used to date. It offers fine geometric patterns that can be inscribed or cut onto metal for decoration and finish. Very few look at or use this age old technique but I have already found that it provides exciting and alternative metal finishes that will extend the variety and style of decoration I adore including and incorporating in my designs. Engine Turning machines are operated entirely by hand and demands accuracy of measurement and movement. I create engine turned straight patterns in the silver sheet which I then form by scoring and folding (another hand crafted technique) to make a geometric triangle shapes to my decorative bowls.
